bullet  General Notes:

Graduate Stanford University and Stanford Law School.
Practiced in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Bakersfield, California

I was born in Portland, Oregon as the first July 4 (Independence Day, sorry) in 1932. We moved to San Francisco in 1938, where I grew up. I went to Stanford University, majoring in political science. After graduation in 1954 I was commissioned as an intelligence officer and trained in counterintelligence.
I was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany until 1956, when I was returned to the U.S. I then attended Stanford Law School. After graduation I was a law clerk for a justice of the California Supreme Court. Then I practiced with a private firm in some heady areas and then became corporate secretary of a firm managing mutual funds and insurance companies until 1972, when I moved to Los Angeles. I practiced law with a large firm in Los Angeles until about 1999, when I moved back to practice in the San Francisco Bay Area for a couple of years (in Silicon Valley) and then moved on to my present firm headquartered in Bakersfield, with about a dozen offices in California. I have three living adult children.: a daughter who is executive director of the board of realtors in Kona, Hawaii (Jacqueline SueParkinson). a daughter practicing law inm Oakland, California (Cheryl Lynn Martinsen), and a son in Los Angeles who is in the TV and movie business, currently controller of the NBC soap opera "Passions." My progeny all have children, on which I can fill you in later.
I am a business lawyer and a trial lawyer. Both a solicitor and a barrister in UK terminology. After practicing law for almost 50 years I am experienced at mostly everything. Almost 74, I have no plans to retire. I try cases, write appellate briefs and play tennis twice a week. Bakersfield is a warm and dry place suitable for folks with creaking joints. My wife Jacqueline is a retired history teacher with a masters degree in that subject. She was highly regarded professionally and is by me, too. (Note from Roger Parkinson)
